Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 October 2026

1. Who we are

Ascend ("we", "us") is a CS2 self-improvement tracker operated from the Netherlands. This policy explains what personal data we process, why, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For privacy questions, contact support@cswatch.gg.

2. Data we collect

  • Account identity: your Steam ID (SteamID64), Steam persona name and avatar, obtained when you sign in with Steam, or from cswatch.gg when you use "Open with Steam" there. For a new account we also note where it came from (for example the cswatch.gg card or a blog post), to see which of our links work.
  • Match & performance data: your CS2 match history and per-match statistics retrieved from the FACEIT API for your linked account: result, map, score, kills/deaths/assists, ADR, headshot %, ELO, and FACEIT's per-round counters (opening duels, clutches, flashes, utility damage, MVPs, multi-kills).
  • Reputation data: your public cswatch.gg reputation (trust score, ban flags) retrieved for your Steam ID.
  • Premier and Leetify data from cswatch.gg: your own match statistics that cswatch.gg read from the demos of your linked match history (map, score, kills/deaths/assists, ADR, headshots, KAST, opening duels, trades, multi-kills, clutches) and the Leetify ratings and statistics cswatch.gg stores for you. Fetched when you open Ascend and kept in memory for at most 10 minutes; nothing about other players.
  • Product data: milestones, focus goals, a daily ELO goal and achievements you create or earn, match review notes you write, a daily ELO history, and your subscription/plan status (incl. Mollie customer and subscription references).
  • Community board: ideas you suggest on the public roadmap (shown with your Steam display name, never your Steam ID), your votes, and any reports you file. Deleting your account removes your votes and reports; your suggestions stay on the board as "a player".
  • Open sign-up cups: if you sign up alone for a cup, its organizer sees your FACEIT level and ELO, your cswatch trust score and your role from your own matches, to make balanced teams. The public sees your nickname and FACEIT level. Withdrawing or deleting your account takes you off the list.
  • Cup interest list: if you put a team on the list for the first Ascend cup, we keep the team name and when you usually play, with your account. Only the number of teams is public. It is deleted when you take the team off the list or delete your account.
  • Teams you join: when you join a team (through an invite or its invite link), its captain and co-coaches see your role, your map numbers, the form of your last 10 matches and your current focus, all from your own matches. Leaving the team stops this.
  • Teammates: the FACEIT rosters of your own matches (player ids and nicknames), used to show who you win with. Their public FACEIT identity and cswatch trust are looked up as described in 2a.
  • Tournaments: if you sign a team up for a cup: the team name, the Steam IDs of its five players (shown publicly as FACEIT nicknames and levels only), each player's cswatch trust at sign-up and check-in, and the FACEIT match ids and per-player match numbers of cup games. Kept with the cup's results.
  • Notifications: if you opt in, a Discord webhook URL you provide, stored encrypted and used only to post the messages you switched on. Remove it in Settings at any time.
  • Operational data: security and audit logs (sign-in, import, export, scouting lookups, deletion events) with timestamps and IP address.

We do not collect your Steam password. Authentication is handled by Steam via OpenID.

2a. Players who are not Ascend users

Ascend lets visitors and users look up other CS2 players ("scouting") and lets Team-plan users keep a roster. For a looked-up player we retrieve, from the same public sources, their FACEIT nickname, avatar, level, ELO, recent match statistics and their public cswatch.gg trust score and ban record. This happens on the basis of our legitimate interest in helping players check who they queue with, using data those players already make public on FACEIT, Steam and cswatch.gg. Scouting results are cached for at most 10 minutes and are not otherwise stored. A public card at /p/<steamid> shows the same teaser (identity, trust, recent record) for any Steam ID, so players can share it. Roster entries (nickname, ELO, level, trust and headline stats) are stored until the roster owner removes them or deletes their account. If you are such a player and object to this processing, contact support@cswatch.gg with your Steam ID and we will exclude it.

3. Why we process it (lawful basis)

  • Performance of a contract: to provide the tracking, analytics and account features you sign up for.
  • Legitimate interests: to keep the service secure and prevent abuse (audit logging, rate limiting).
  • Consent: for any optional analytics or marketing communications, where applicable.

4. Sub-processors

We share the minimum data necessary with:

ProviderPurposeData
Steam (Valve)Sign-in / identity; resolving custom profile URLs for scoutingSteamID, persona, avatar; profile name entered for lookup
FACEITMatch & performance data (yours and scouted players')SteamID (to look up matches)
cswatch.ggReputation data (yours and scouted players'); your own Premier match statistics and Leetify numbersSteamID

Hosting providerRunning the serviceAll of the above, at rest

5. How long we keep it

We keep your account and match data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account we immediately and permanently remove your matches and notes, milestones, focus goals, achievements, ELO history, stored secrets, subscription record (and cancel any running subscription with Mollie), your teams and rosters, and your entry on other users' rosters; your remaining sessions are revoked and your account record is anonymised (your Steam ID is replaced by an irreversible hash). Audit log entries are kept for 180 days for security purposes and then deleted; on account deletion the IP addresses in your entries are removed immediately.

6. Your rights

  • Access & portability: export all your data as JSON from Settings, or via GET /api/export.
  • Erasure: delete your account and all associated data from Settings at any time.
  • Rectification, restriction, objection: you can switch off your public player card and stop others from scouting you yourself, in Settings under Privacy and time zone. For anything else, contact us.
  • You may also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

7. Security

We use HTTP-only, SameSite session cookies, CSRF protection, encryption-at-rest for stored secrets, rate limiting and audit logging. Data in transit is protected with TLS. Our technical baseline is aligned to ISO/IEC 27001 Annex A controls.

8. Changes

We will update this policy as the service evolves and note the date above. Material changes will be communicated in-app.
